Mohammed Zaher Ibrahim
WHAT HAPPENED
Mohammed Zaher Ibrahim, a 15-year-old U.S. citizen born in Florida, was arrested by Israeli soldiers on February 16, 2025, during a raid on his family's home in Al-Mazra'a ash-Sharqiya in the occupied West Bank and held for over nine months in Israeli military detention on stone-throwing allegations, without trial and without family visits. According to his lawyer, family, and rights groups, he was beaten during interrogation, lost roughly 26-33 pounds, and contracted scabies while held at Megiddo and Ofer prisons; his case drew appeals from U.S. lawmakers and more than 100 organizations urging U.S. government intervention. He was released on November 27, 2025, and was hospitalized upon release.
