WHAT HAPPENED

Orwah (Orwa) Abd al-Wahhab Hammad, a 14-year-old American citizen born in New Orleans, Louisiana, was shot in the neck and killed by Israeli soldiers on October 24, 2014, during clashes in the West Bank town of Silwad, near Ramallah. The Israeli military said soldiers fired at him as he was about to throw a Molotov cocktail toward traffic on a nearby highway, an account disputed by relatives and residents who said he was among stone-throwing youths at a demonstration. The U.S. State Department confirmed the death of the U.S. citizen minor and called for a "speedy and transparent investigation."
